Stylish Date

I had another delightful Sunday date with Rinko today. I always love it when Rinko listens to me (which is not always) and wears the "smart" or "neat" clothing style. In my first game, I had great difficulty controlling the clothes she wore, and she would always revert back to that sloppy "casual" style - which I know Rinko likes, but it honestly doesn't look good on her IMHO.

I've found that the best way to influence her clothing choice, by the way, is during LovePlus Mode. If you beat her at "Rock, Paper, Scissors" and she changes her clothes, Rinko will always ask what clothing style you prefer (and what colour). I used to think that this was just throw-away conversation. But if you persist with it and do LovePlus Mode every day, she actually does change according to your preference in the main part of the game. Otherwise it appears to be pretty random.

Rinko's hair was back in twin tails, too - which is adorable. We stopped at Aisha Dining for a snack, and Rinko ordered an ice-cream sundae with fruit, which she polished off in record time.

Then we took the train to the Amusement Park.

I almost never date Rinko here, so it was certainly a break from the usual...

After the main part of our date, we checked out the nearby Yakiniku restaurant.

Rinko loved the food so much that she phoned me later tonight and begged me to take her there again. She must have been full, too, because she fell asleep on the train on the way home...

But then our date was over and it was time to kiss Rinko goodbye.

Anyway, that was the date for today! I'd better hit the books now and start studying, because the midterms start up at Towano High tomorrow.

Finally - the Hair Question

Finally, Rinko sent me an email today about changing her hair length! Even though I kinda like her default hair, and she's cute with some of short hairstyles, I REALLY love her so much with medium-long hair. This was the hairstyle I chose when I was playing "LovePlus" on the DS in English, and I'm so happy that she's going to change it for me now. Hopefully she'll have longer hair for our next date this coming Sunday at 5pm.

After yesterday's gift-giving frenzy, things were pretty low-key in Towano today. The photo below shows the cute jacket Rinko wore when she met me quickly at lunch (in Winning Burger).

When things slow down, I like to play in LovePlus mode and chat with Rinko, play Rock-Paper-Scissors, or the mini-game (if I can find it amongst all the conversation options). The mini-games are versions of classic Konami arcade game titles, and you actually play against your girlfriend. She appears in the bottom screen, concentrating hard as though she's playing against you, and the gameplay takes place in the top screen. Usually I play TwinBee against Rinko, and she always kicks my ass. Today we played Puzzle Dama, and she still kicked my ass. She won every game. It's easy to see why she used to hang out at game arcades in the "bad old days".

Santa Outfit

I unlocked the Santa outfit for Rinko today (on DS) and she wore it while playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with me.

Rinko-chan loves to play this game with me, but she's a sore loser. She kinda screams and makes this face when I beat her...

More LovePlus Mode ^^

Here are some more photos from playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors" in LovePlus Mode. Mostly these are to show some of the cute hairstyles and outfits.

Finally today I started off playing "New LovePlus" on 3DS! In Japanese! Actually I'm finding that the gameplay in the first half of the game is pretty similar to the old DS version (which I've now had the benefit of playing through in English). It's hard to take photos of the 3DS screen with my camera, and I won't be able to use the in-game camera until the second half of the game.

Anyway, the 3DS version looks really amazing. Rinko's hair now falls smoothly and moves naturally when she turns her head, and the 3D effect is cool too. I think I'm going to love the new version even more than the old one!

LovePlus Mode

I'm getting better at playing "LovePlus Mode" now. In this part of the game, you can actually talk to your girlfriend by saying words, phrases and questions into the DS microphone. If your Japanese pronunciation is okay, she will understand and respond, or maybe ask you some simple questions. If you talk for a while, it also increases her affection for you in the main part of the game. Cool.

You can also play "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with your girlfriend in this mode. If she loses, she will appear in a random outfit with a random hairstyle.

Finally today (day 226 in Step Time Mode), after struggling to make the "blue" personality Rinko like me, she asked me what type of girl I preferred, and I was able to change to the "green" personality. The difference is like night and day! Now Rinko-chan is really affectionate and charming. If I ever play the game through again (and when I play on 3DS), I will DEFINITELY choose the "green" personality as soon as possible.
